!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! converted a '78 Bay Window van to run on electricity. Fair enough. It has a very nice body, and seems to be really well done. They even claim a top speed of ~80 and a range of 160 miles, pretty damn good for a home-built electric car. You know what it's not as good as, though? A Tesla Model S. Despite this, the owner of this particular bus has decided that it's worth just as much as a Model S, and is asking $70,000 in order to purchase it. Seriously brah?

That's so beautifully done, but not for that price. I almost want to message them and tell them that.

For some reason people believe they can sell their car for what the paid for it (or to put into it). People haven't realized that they will usually be lucky to get half of what they think the car is worth.

Yeah, it really is very well done from what I see. But, realistically, that bus would only be worth maybe $12k-$13k with a normal engine, and the electric conversion might add $5k on that to the right buyer.

Yeah, it's a really nice bus and has one of the nicest electric conversions that I've seen, but it's probably worth a fourth of the asking price.

I was thinking no more that $20K After that, I could go an buy something that's a hybrid and for a little bit more (and all of my dignity), I could buy a Prius.

Even without the electric conversion I'm really liking it. I'd say half of what he's asking for the car, just because I'm a sucker for something like this. It's amazing, and the person deserves a ton of credit. I just wish they'd be reasonable, mainly for their own sake.

To be worth $35 grand, I really think it'd have to be a full-fledged Westie with an exceptional electric conversion done by a big-name shop. Even then, you'd be much better off spending $15k on a gas one and having $20k left over to do all the camping you could ever handle.
